Big smiles, warm handshakes as OBJ, Atiku meet in Abuja (photos)

Former president Olusegun Obasanjo met with his former vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, at an event organised by the Gusau Institute which took place at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, on Wednesday, June 27.

The development was made public by Atiku’s media aide, Paul Ibe, via his Twitter handle, @omonlakiki.

NAIJ.com gathers that the event was also attended by the former president of Benin Republic, Boni Yayi, former president of Niger Republic Mahamane Ousmane and former national security adviser, Gen Aliyu Gusau (rtd).

Obasanjo and Atiku sat at the same table with Yayi between them, after exchanging pleasantries.

In an earlier report by NAIJ.com, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo met with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in Lagos. The duo reunited at the 10th memorial symposium of Abraham Adesanya, a chieftain of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO).

Meanwhile, Atiku, on Tuesday, June 26, paid a visit to Delta state, where he said the only solution to Nigeria's current challenges is restructuring. Atiku while speaking in Asaba, said the country must be restructured for Nigeria to rapidly move forward.

He said he has always advocated for restructuring since 2004 while serving as a vice president, The Punch reports. Decrying the security situation in Nigeria, the former vice president urged the federal government to review the current security architecture to meet the emerging security threats in the country.
