Group reveals how Operation Python Dance stopped IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu’s ‘blackmail’

- Independent Human Rights Group in Nigeria (IHRGN) has lauded Nigerian army for restoring peace to southeast

- IHRGH said the troops professionally managed the situation and arrested several people causing violence in the region

- The group, however, claimed that the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) exploited its relationship with Igbo political class to blackmail the army

Independent Human Rights Group in Nigeria commended the Nigerian army for stopping the activities of Nnamdi kanu, the leader of the Independent People of Biafra through the means of Operation Python Dance II.

The group claimed that the army was able to stop Kanu from using his relationship with the “political class and elites in the southeast” to “blackmail the military.”

Reports have it that Zineke Werigbelegha, the leader of the group made this known in Owerri, Imo state.

Werigbelegha said: ''To revive these crimes, perpetrators brought them under a political cover which manifested as agitations for the re-creation of the erstwhile republic of Biafra.

''IPOB enjoys patronage of the political class and elites in the southeast and they exploited this relationship to blackmail the army.

''The decision by IPOB terrorists to deny troops right of way in the course of the operation led to potentially volatile incidents that IPOB publicized as attacks on its operational base in Abia state.

''It was however confirmed that troops professionally managed the situation with several arrests made of the terrorists that had launched attacks on troops.''

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that United State of America based human rights group known as Rapid Response Fact-Finding Mission on Monday, October 9, asked President Buhari to withdraw troops from the southeast.
