The pupils of Ebrumede primary school, Ebrumede-Effurun, Delta state have been allegedly mandated by their headmistress, one Mrs. Owigho to pay a sum of N1,500 each to rebuild a block of classroom which was said to have been burnt down by unknown people.
In a statement sent to NAIJ.com, a Facebook user, Utukpe Elo, said that the headmistress insisted that all the pupils should pay the amount and that those that failed to comply were sent back to their various homes.

She said: “I am from Delta state, I stay in a community called Ebrumede and there is a government school there. A block in the school was burnt down; nobody knows who set the block on fire.
“Just recently, the principal, Mrs owigho asked all the student to pay the sum of 1500 to build the block. She said she has burrowed 200k already to build the block and just last week, she started sending the students who are yet to pay back home.
“My questions are: Are the students to be tasked to build the block that was burnt down? Is the government not responsible for it? Is the payment directed by the state for the students to pay? When has it become the duty of the principle to build a government owned school?

“Should they hold the student responsible for the restructuring of the building? I want this to be investigated and the said principal should be called to explain what's going on. I have a younger sister there in the school and she has in fact paid her dues of the 1500.”
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had previously reported that the six students of Igbonla Model College in Epe who were abducted were released after two months in captivity.
