- Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel could be on his way back to Chelsea
- He explained that he never had the chance to say goodbye to Chelsea fans
- Mikel left the Blues in January 2017, and he is currently playing in China
After spending almost eleven years in England, Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel has reportedly left the door open over a possible return to Stamford Bridge.
Mikel currently plays for Chinese Super League side Tianjin Teda, and the midfield maestro has been superb for them since joining the club from Chelsea in January 2017.
The 31-year-old was reported to have stated clearly that he is considering a return to the Premier League because he never had the chance to say goodbye on the pitch to Chelsea fans.
“I didn’t have the chance to say goodbye on the pitch to the fans who stood by me for over 10 years, and that is enough motivation for me to want to return.
“I’m very happy in China but then what I have learnt is that in football anything can happen. Chelsea is home to me due to my close relationship with the management of the team but I’m happy in China,'' Mikel explained.
