JUST IN: Boko Haram, troops exchange gunfire in Gwoza

- The army engaged in a shootout with Boko Haram herders in Gwoza

- Three of the insurgents were killed while others escaped with gunshot wounds

- The military forces were said to be on top of the situation as the town became calm after the heavy gunfire

There was heavy exchange of gunfire between Boko Haram and Nigerian military forces in Gwoza town on Tuesday, October 9.

Daily Trust reports that the Nigerian military forces were said to be on top of the situation, as the town had become calm after an hour of heavy gunfire.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had previously reported that Brigadier-general Sani Usman who is the spokesperson of the Nigerian army said they were intercepted in Lingir village of Borno state while trying to herd rustled cattle into the Maiduguri cattle market.
