Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne mocks Arsenal's 2003/2004 Invincibles

13 years ago Arsenal’s invincible famously went 49 league games without a defeat, going on to claim the Premier League title in 2004.

The Gunners’ achievement has never been matched in the Premier League era but Pep Guardiola's Manchester City are starting to look like they could replicate the achievement.

City, who face face the gunners this weekend, have only dropped two points from their opening ten league fixtures and are five points above their Manchester neighbors United.

But Belgian and City midfield's palymaker De Bruyne doubts that his side will be able to remain unbeaten for the full 38 games.

The Belgian ace said: “To go unbeaten? Well, it’s very hard. I don’t think it will be possible.

“The level of competition is so high, in every team. It’s not like, with all respect, 10 or 15 years ago where you have a couple of teams that won’t win against the top teams.

"Now, every game is hard and you need to be mentally there.

"And with the Champions League and all the cups, there will be a game where maybe we are a little bit less and maybe lose. But as long as our form keeps going, it’s good."

City beat West Brom 3-2 at the Hawthorns on Saturday, their eighth Premier League win on the bounce.

They welcome fifth-placed Arsenal, who saw off Swansea over the weekend, to the Etihad on Sunday, it will be another big test for Man City's title credentials.
