Jose Mourinho's men were made to work for the victory especially in the first half, with Benfica asking a lot of questions from the United defence
David De Gea kept the game at 0-0 with a brilliant stop from Benfica's youngster Goncalves, Benfica had a penalty shout also in the first half but was overlooked by the official.

A brilliant piece of play at the other end by Anthony Martial won a penalty for United, Martial stood up and took the penalty but was brilliantly stopped by the Benfica's shot-stopper.

Rashford made an immediate impact, he raced down the left wing into the box and was brought down by the Benfica defender. Daley Blind walked up and coolly slotted home the penalty for United.
