APC suffers huge setback as over 1000 members decamp to PDP in Niger state

Massive defections have hit the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger state as over 1,000 of its members decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Leadership reports that the defections which come as politicians get endorsement ahead of the 2019 general elections in the area occurred at the weekend.

The newspaper learnt that the defectors included members of the PDP who had joined that APC in 2015 in protest to an alleged imposition of candidate in their party.

Receiving the returnees, the legal adviser of PDP north central zone, Isyaku Barau, stated that the people had realized that they had voted for a wrong political party and had begun to come back home after their excursion.

PDP chieftains in Niger state expressed the confidence that the party will bounce back in 2019.

Meanwhile, former minister of information and culture, Prince Tony Momoh, has insisted that President Muhammadu Buhari cannot lose any election in Nigeria if he decides to go for a second term.

The founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) said apart from the late Dr Nnamdi Azikwe, Buhari now understands Nigeria more than any other Nigerian leader in time past.

Momoh also faulted suggestions that the president is sick and cannot work, adding that Buhari’s sickness was exaggerated, The Sun reports.
