Archbishop Chukwuma clears air on Ekwueme's health condition

- Archbishop Chukwuma has reacted to rumour that Alex Ekwueme is dead

- Chukwuma said the federal government has made all arrangement to fly Ekwueme abroad

Most Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma, has dismissed reports that the former Vice President of Nigeria, Alex Ekwueme, is dead

Archbishop Chukwuma, who is the Archbishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical Province of Anglican Church, spoke to newsmen after visiting Ekwueme at the Memphys Hospital of Neurosurgery, Enugu.

Ekwueme is one of the Archbishop’s parishioners at the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd Independence Layout Enugu.

Chukwuma disclosed that efforts were in top gear to fly him abroad.

He said: “The rumour making the rounds is not true. I can tell you as we speak that arrangements are being finalized by the federal government to get an air ambulance to fly him abroad.”

"He will be flown abroad as soon as the federal government gets an air ambulance."

Recall that NAIJ.com previously reported that President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered that ailing former vice president Alex Ekwueme be flown abroad for medical treatment with immediate effect.

Garba Shehu, senior special assistant on media and publicity to the president said that Buhari gave the order after he received brief on the medical condition of Ekwueme.

He said the approval given by Buhari would cover the cost of chartering an air ambulance for the journey and the cost of his treatment.
