Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City in serious battle to sign top Dutch football star in January (photo)

- Arsenal and Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Ajax star De Jong

- The two Premier League clubs are said to have contacted the Dutch club over a move

- Premier League champions Chelsea are also said to be monitoring the situation

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and his rival from Manchester City Pep Guardiola are reportedly in the race to sign Ajax youngster Frenkie De Jong.

According to the report, the two Premier League club have both spoken to the Dutch club over a deal for the 20-year-old player in January 2018.

The central midfielder has broken into the first team and has sparked a tug-of-war to get him to the Premier League with champions Chelsea also monitoring his situation.

Clubs reckon they can get the youngster for a bargain £5 million this January as De Jong has just 18 months left on his current deal.

De Jong started at Willem II before moving to Ajax and playing for their youth team in the second-tier where he won the Talent of the Season award.
