- Ahead of the governorship election in Anambra state, Peter Obi has told the people to collect money allegedly been shared by Governor Willie Obiano
- Obi accused Obiano of cornering the money meant for development of the state just for electioneering purpose
- He accused Obiano of poor performance saying he should not be given an opportunity for a second term in office
Former governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi, has told residents of the state to ensure they collect the money allegedly being given to them by his successor, Willie Obiano, but vote him out at the governorship election to hold on November 18 governorship.
Obi reportedly accused Obiano of spending public funds to influence the people of the state to vote for his return to power.
According to reports, the former governor spoke at a meeting with a group of non-indigenes in Nkpor, Idemmili North Local Government Area of the state.

He said Obiano was busy spending money he should have used to develop the state on electioneering as he canvassed for Oseloka Obaze, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to Obi, a governor who refuses to perform in his first term, should not be allowed to win a return ticket.
“When we tell people that his (Obiano) poor performance in office is not enough to get him re-elected, they boast that they have money to buy all the votes needed to win.
“To that I say, Mr Willie Obiano came to this state with nothing, so the money he is sharing is the money he would have spent on our roads, schools, hospitals, invested in social welfare and addressed several unmet needs of our society.
“If they give you money, collect it, it is our money. But after that, cast your votes based on conviction.
"While you do that, please remember that the future of our children and children’s children is at stake.
