Jesus, Aguero score as incredible Manchester City hammer Arsenal at the Etihad

Manchester City continued their stunning run of form with a resounding 3 - 1 win over Arsenal at the Etihad stadium.

The Citizens named an attacking side as Arsene Wenger dropped Alexandre Lacazette to the bench with Francis Coquelin coming in.

City took the lead through Kevin De Bruyne in the 19th minute when the Belgian fired an effort past Petr Cech.

The midfielder had seen his initial effort saved by the Arsenal man but he was on hand to score the rebound.

City could have doubled their lead when Raheem Sterling was found free on the right with just Koscienly and Cech to beat as Sergio Aguero gave him support.

However the Englishman did not weigh his pass well enough and Arsenal survived.

Aaron Ramsey could have scored the equalizer one minute before the break but he could not sort his feet and his eventual shot was parried by Ederson.

Alexandre Lacazette pulled one back in the 64th minute with a thumping shot from a tight angle after receiving a pass from Ramsey.

Arsenal found new confidence with that goal and almost equalized one minute later but John Stones did well to block Hector Bellerin's cross from the right.

Gabriel Jesus made it three with a controversial goal. The Brazilain received a pass from David Silva who was clearly offside.

That was how the game ended as City secured a 3 - 1 win that put them eight points clear at the top of the table.

Arsenal meanwhile drop to sixth place behind Liverpool although level on points with Jurgen Klopp's side.
