Katsina lawmaker escapes by inches in his own constituency

- The attack happened right in Kurfi where the lawmaker is from

- The youths said the lawmaker was being partial in the job opportunities that he offered to constituents

- Kurfi described the incident as unfortunate and the handiwork of those who just wanted to use religion to cause trouble

A member of the House of Representatives Danlami Muh’d Kurfi has narrowly escaped death in the hands of youths in his own constituency.

The lawmaker, representing Dutsinma/Kurfi constituency, was reportedly attacked by the youths in Kurfi while on a condolence for failing to keep his several pre-election promises.

Confirming the incident to Vanguard, Kurfi described the attack as unfortunate.

He said he was attacked because some people felt the job opportunities he handed out to his constituents favoured a certain set of people above others.

He claimed those behind the attack wanted to use religion to cause trouble.

He said: “The attack erupted after I gave out about 25 slots of the job offer (10 slots at Teachers Board and 15 slots at Federal University) and some disgruntle elements claimed the sharing did not favoured the Darika sect.

“Those who said these are not fair to me because as a lawmaker everybody is mine irrespective of their sect. And so the matter that I favoured Izala sect and don’t favour the Darika sect does not arise.

“In the recent past, I built a Juma’at mosque for the Darika sect, bought an Islamic school for them worth about N1 million, so it is not true that the Darika sect are not favoured.”

Meanwhile, the House of Reps' ad-hoc committee probing Aso Rock Clinic has insisted that the House cannot allow the life of President Muhammadu Buhari be put at risk over the deteriorating state of the clinic.

NAIJ.com had earlier reported that the committee which was led by Hon Magaji Aliyu noted that there is the need to have an effective health management in place in the clinic in case of an emergency.

He said this during an interactive session with Ismaila Kawu, senior special adviser to the president on national assembly matters (House); Ita Enang, special adviser to the president on national assembly matters (Senate); Osagie Ehanire, minister of state for Health and representatives of Muhammad Bello, FCT minister, at the National Assembly complex, Abuja.
