Labour Party Chairman finally breaks silence, reveals what really happened to his mother when she was kidnapped

- The national chairman of the Labour Party, Dr Mike Omotosho, has disclosed that his mother was not harmed while in captivity, and that she is healthy and fine

- Omotosho thanked all those who stood by his family during the trying time, and also lauded the security agencies and the media for their timely aid

- The Kwara state commissioner of police has also disclosed that the police have closed in on the abductors of Mrs Omotosho

Dr Mike Omotosho, National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), has disclosed that his mother, Mrs Elizabeth Omotosho, was not harmed while she was in captivity, Punch reports.

Omotosho made his comments in a statement which was released on Saturday, November 11.

NAIJ.com gathers that the party chairman further revealed that his 71-year-old mother, who reportedly walked home by herself, is healthy and fine.

In his statement, Omotosho also expressed immense gratitude to all those who stood by his family while his mother was still in captivity.

He especially thanked the security forces and the media for their timely aid.

He stated: “May the Lord uproot this evil scourge in our society. My mom is well and was not harmed in any way. For that, we are grateful.

“The entire episode, however, reiterated my personal belief in an inclusive society where all our minds are focused on the same vision of greatness; where all hands are on deck to move the country forward and protect her interests.”

The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Lawan Ado, also told newsmen that the police have closed in on Mrs Omotosho’s abductors, via the use of sophisticated technology.

Recall that NAIJ.com previously reported that abductors of Elizabeth Omotosho, the mother of the national chairman of Labour Party (LP), Mike Omotosho, demanded N100 million as ransom to secure her release.

A source close to the family, on Wednesday, November 8, said the kidnappers had reached out to them and requested that the money should be paid before the 71-year-old woman would be released from their captivity.

Mrs Omotosho was kidnapped by four gunmen at her residence at 23, Lobalade Street, Tanke, Ilorin, Kwara state.
