There is a leadership crisis brewing between Buruji Kashamu, representing Ogun East senatorial district and the newly elected state chairman of the party, Sikirullahi Ogundele.
Punch reports that Kashamu's loyalists led by Dayo Bayo reclaimed the party secretariat located along the Presidential Boulevard, Abeokuta on Tuesday, November 7.

Meanwhile, 17 members of the Ogundele faction who participated in the eviction of the Bayo-led executive were arraigned at an Abeokuta magistrate court on Monday for contempt of court and breach of peace.
The magistrate, Olayinka Idowu, had restrained the group, backed by the Ahmed Makarfi-led national caretaker committee from "holding any congress, gathering, public assembly or meeting likely to cause breach of peace in any part of the state."
Dayo, who said his executive would remain in office till 2020, accused Makarfi of pursuing personal agenda in the state to the detriment of the party.
“Makarfi is taking sides with some people in the southwest, he’s only adding to the problem of the party, his intention is to wipe out the PDP in the southwest.
“We can’t blame him because he was a spectator at the Port Harcourt convention; someone just picked him and made him the caretaker chairman, there’s nothing like caretaker in our constitution.

When the charges were read to them, the 17 accused persons pleaded not guilty.
The magistrate, however, granted the arraigned members bail in the sum of N150, 000 each with one surety each in like sum.
