As President Muhammadu Buhari clocks 75 today, Sunday, December 17, former vice president Atiku Abubakar has congratulated the president and wished him many happy returns.
Atiku sent his birthday message via his twitter handle.
He tweeted: “Happy 75th birthday, President @MBuhari. Many happy returns.”
Earlier, NAIJ.com reported that former president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose, also congratulated President Buhari on his 75th birthday.
Jonathan, in a statement issued by his media adviser, Mr. Ikechukwu Eze on Saturday, December 16, described Buhari as a statesman whose unique experience of leading Nigeria at different times, has earned him a special place in history.
The statement read: “I wish to most sincerely congratulate you on your 75th birthday. My family and I are pleased to join your numerous well wishers to felicitate with you as you mark this day.
“Your Excellency, you are a man of destiny whose place in history as Nigeria’s leader, at different epochs in our nation’s development journey, is guaranteed.
“I pray that God Almighty that has kept you alive and healthy will continue to protect and strengthen you as you lend your efforts to the bid to realize our collective dreams for a greater and more prosperous nation. “Congratulations!”
Governor Fayose sent his congratulations while speaking at a session with journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday, December 16.
Fayose, however, advised the president not to consider seeking re-election, urging him to quit when the ovation was loudest.
The governor's advice was contained in a statement sent to journalists on Saturday, December 16, by his spokesman, Idowu Adelusi.
