Following the success of the wedding party 1, the ELFIKE collective have done it again breaking new records.
- The biggest opening for a sequel
- The biggest opening for a PG rated film
- The biggest non-holiday opening day for a film released in Nigeria
- The biggest advanced screening for any film released in Nigeria
With over N20million in one day, following a record breaking N9.4m in advance screenings. The Wedding Party 2 is set to beat all records from the first installment and on-course to be the biggest movie release of 2018 (Hollywood & Nollywood).
The wedding party 2: Destination Dubai was released yesterday and premiered last week Sunday at Eko Hotel and was an event to remember. The Dubai themed event was attended by the most celebrated members of society, entertainers, socialites and politic leaders.
Following from the prequel, TWP2 Destination Dubai follows the usual suspects to Dubai in preparation for the wedding of Dozie’s (Banky W) brother Nonso Onwuka (Enyinna Nwigwe and his accidental fiancée Deadre Winston (Daniella Down). Thrown into the mix and causing serious chaos is Nonso’s aunt (Patience Ozokwor) who is going head to head with Shola Shobowale and Ireti Doyle.
With so many delightful, funny and truly captivating scenes, it is safe to assume that these records are just the beginning of what’s to come.
The Wedding Party 2 was directed by Niyi Akinmolayan and produced by the ELFIKE collective. Executive producer Kene Mkparu (CEO FilmOne Production & Distributions) spoke about the scope of the international release of the Wedding Party. “We’re off to a great start in Nigeria and we hope to get a similar reaction across Africa, the UK, US, Dubai and beyond. The Wedding Party 2 will be available in four languages. This shows that we can make movies in Nigeria that appeal to the rest of the world”.
