The United States supreme court has ruled that President Donald Trump’s travel ban on six mainly Muslim countries can go into full effect, pending legal challenges, BBC reports.
NAIJ.com gathered that Trump policy against travellers from Chad, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria, and Yemen was allowed by the court to be effective.

Recall that President Trump issued the directive since taking office. Despite the criticism that the policy attracted, the president did lift the ban.
White House spokesman Hogan Gidley said the White House was not surprised by the Supreme Court's decision.

Trump insisted that the ban was a measure against terrorism, as the policy would ensure national security, pointing to terrorist attacks in Paris, London, Brussels, and Berlin as evidence.

Lower courts in the US have condemned the policy, saying it violated the first amendment of the US constitution covering freedom of religion.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had previously reported that Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas had warned that President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital would jeopardize the White House's Mideast peace efforts.
He said: "Any American step related to the recognition of Jerusalem as capital of Israel, or moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, represents a threat to the future of the peace process and is unacceptable for the Palestinians, Arabs and internationally."
