Kogi APC condemns Obasanjo's letter to Buhari, tells ex-president to rejoin politics

- The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi state has asked former president Olusegun Obasanjo to rejoin politics

- The party condemned Obasanjo's open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari in which he asked the president not to seek re-election in 2019

- The APC in Kogi state warned Obasanjo to desist from being inconsistent

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi state has asked ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo to join a party of his choice if he is still missing active politics.

In a statement by its state chairman, Alhaji Haddy A Ametuo, the party condemned Obasanjo's recent statement asking President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek re-election in the forthcoming general elections, Daily Trust reports.

NAIJ.com gathered that the Kogi APC warned the former president to desist from his “consistent inconsistency” and commended President Buhari for his fight against corruption, insurgency and “strict adherence to the rule of law".

Obasanjo had on Tuesday, January 23, wrote an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari on the state of the nation, which he titled The Way Out: A Clarion Call for Coalition for Nigeria Movement.

In the letter, the ex-president advised Buhari not to seek re-election in the 2019 general elections.

In a related development, NAIJ.com previously reported that President Muhammadu Buhari and former president Olusegun Obasanjo met on Sunday, January 28 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, at the opening session of the 30th African Union Summit.

They both shook hands and talked for about two minutes in a short video posted by the president's aide, Bashir Ahmad, on Twitter.
