Tension in Kano as Kwankwaso's, Ganduje's supporters clash, 6 people injured

- Some supporters of the Kano state governor and his predecessor have clashed in the state

- These supporters clashed at a wedding ceremony on Sunday, January 14

- Six people, ally of the former governor, Walid Sanusi, were injured during the attack

Six people have been injured in a clash between supporters of the current governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Ganduje and his predecessor, Musa Kwankwaso.

Guardian reports that the clash between the two factions of the All Progressives Congress in Kano state ensued when some loyalists of Ganduje attacked supporters pf the former governor at a wedding in the state.

The incident which occurred at about 11 am on Sunday, January 14, left six attendees including an ally of the former governor, Walid Sanusi, injured.

It was also gathered that two children of the Kano state commissioner of special duties, Sani Abdullahi Abbas and Abbas Abdullahi were part of the attackers who were led by an aide to the commissioner, Shawuya.

Confirming the incident, a member of the Kwankwasiya group and a former organising secretary of the APC in Kano blamed the attack on the negligence of the security agents at the event.

He said the operatives failed to react to the alarm raised by the group.

“It was a surprise that Abdullahi Abbas had not be arrested or invited by the security agents over his alleged statement in the video clip," he said.

Also, the spokesperson for the Kano state police command, Magaji Musa, said the police have started investigation on the crisis.

He promised to make the findings public as soon as investigations were concluded.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that a viral video had shown the Kano state commissioner of special duties instructing some supporters of Ganduje to stone their counterparts supporting Kwankwaso.

Sunusi in the video described Kwankwaso as the 'political satan' of Kano state and told supporters to be ready to stone him when he visits the state.

The commissioner has neither confirmed nor disowned the video.
