A 14-year-old student of the Achimota Senior High School (SHS) is set to join the Ghana team that will represent the country at the Ghana Chess Olympiad later this year.
The teenager, Maud Benson, has a unique talent in the game of chess and has already represented her school in so many competitions.
Maud also represented Ghana during the Africa Junior Chess Championships last year but is now set to go a step further at the Chess Olympiad. The Achimota School congratulated the prodigy for the achievement so far.
In a Facebook post, the school said it was proud of young Maud and urged her to continue making them proud.

The school wrote: “#AchimotaExcellence2018 Today we celebrate Chess prodigy and our current student, 14 year old Maud Benson. She has represented Ghana at the Africa Junior Chess Championships and will join the national team representing Ghana at the Chess Olympiad later this year! We are proud of you, Maud!"
The Chess Olympiad is a biennial chess tournament in which teams from all over the world compete until the ultimate winner emerges.
Achimota School (formerly Prince of Wales College and School, Achimota, now nicknamed Motown, is a co-educational boarding school located at Achimota in Accra, Ghana.)
The school was founded in 1924, by Sir Frederick Gordon Guggisberg, Dr. James Emman Kwegyir Aggrey and the Rev. Alexander (Alec) Garden Fraser. It was formally opened in 1927, by Sir Frederick Guggisberg, then Governor of the British Gold Coast colony.
