A man identified as Donald Savastano has passed away after he won a million dollar lottery check (N360,000,000). The man became a millionaire on Thursday, January 4, after he won a lottery check playing the Merry Millionaire scratch off ticket.
Savastano reportedly passed away on Friday, January 26, after he was diagnosed of stage 4 cancer. He was survived by his mother, four brothers and two sisters. He had bought the ten dollar lottery ticket on impulse.
According to New York Upstate, the deceased passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by family and friends.

In the obituary by a funeral home, it was stated that suneral service would be held on Wednesday, January 31, at 10:00am at the Oneonta Assembly of God Church, 1776 County Highway 48, Oneonta, New York.
It was gathered that the deceased grew up Long Island and learned carpentry from his father. He became a successful self-employed carpenter after he moved to Sidney in Delaware County. He also helped his girlfriend of 12 years, Julie Wheeler, to raise her two sons.
In an interview with WBNG-TV after the 51-year-old won his lottery, he had stated that he would use the money to pay off some debt, buy a truck and save the rest of it for when he retires.
He said: "Being a self-employed carpenter, I didn't really have a plan for retirement. The money will help with that. I don't have any other extravagant plans. I'll buy a new truck, pay off some debt and invest for the future."
