APC chieftains task Tinubu on Buhari's commitment to peace

- The chieftains inquired of President Buhari's agreement on his willingness to allow total reconciliation among aggrieved party members

- They advised Tinubu to learn from Aminu Tambuwal and Aliyu Wamakko's experiences in handling political matters

Chieftains of the All Progressives have tasked the national leader of the party, Bola Tinubu, on ensuring President Muhammadu Buhari commits to the proposed reconciliation of members.

Vanguard reports that Tinubu has been charged to extract some commitment from President Buhari on his willingness to allow total reconciliation among aggrieved party members.

Sources said that during a meeting with some stakeholders of the party in Sokoto state over the weekend, party members said there was nothing to reconcile in the party.

The chieftains urged Tinubu to use this opportunity to leverage on the experience of Governor Aminu Tambuwal as Speaker of the House of Representatives and Aliyu Wamakko’s role as the APC campaign 2015 coordinator in the northwest zone.

Following his arrival in Sokoto, Tinubu was taken to Wamakko’s residence where the meeting, which lasted about two hours, took place last Saturday.

The source: "We don’t have much problem in Sokoto and all he (Tinubu) came here for was to get proper direction on how to resolve the issues in the north and for that he was basically told that he must extract commitment from those who appointed him of their readiness to pursue reconciliation to the end."

In a earlier report by NAIJ.com, President Muhammadu Buhari appointed the national leader of APC as a mediator for the party.

Tinubu, the presidency said, will help resolve disagreements between members of the party especially those who are aggrieved.

The Presidency also said the national leader's responsibilities include improving cohesion and unity among members of the APC while building confidence within the party faithfuls.
