Former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly expressed interest in succeeding Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger if the Frenchman quits his position at the end of the current season.

The 68-year-old has come under heavy criticism in recent times especially after the Gunners 3-0 scandalous defeat to Manchester City in the final of the Carabao Cup at the Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

And with the chances of the north London club finishing among the top four teams gradually fading away, the club’s board are open to reviewing the two-year contract extension signed by the Frenchman last season.

According to Starsport, the former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich handler has hinted his close pals he will be interested taking over from Wenger at the Emirates Stadium at the end of this season.

Ancelloti has been out of job since he was relieved of his duty by the German Bundesliga champions in September, having led them to double in the 2016/17 season in Germany.

The former midfielder enjoyed a career span of close to two decades with three Serie A clubs; Parma, AS Roma and AC Milan with a total of 35 goals in over 335 matches in all competitions.

Before hanging his boot as a player in 1992, he has already won 12 titles; three of them were Italian league titles, while as a coach, the Italian-born coach has won 20 major titles across the top five European leagues he has coached between 2001 to 2017.

Meanwhile, other candidates that have been penciled down to succeed Wenger include former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique, Germany national team manager Joachim Low, Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers and Manchester City assistant coach Mikel Arteta.
