If you don’t like Obasanjo’s coalition form your own - Doyin Okupe tells politicians

- A former presidential aide, Doyin Okupe, advises those opposed to Obasanjo’s coalition go and create their own movement

- He says such movement will result in a grand coalition of forces in 2019 election

Doyin Okupe, a former aide to the immediate past president, Goodluck Jonathan, has spoken about the new coalition led by ex-president, Olusegun Obasanjo ahead of the 2019 elections.

Okupe in a tweet on Monday, February 5, advised those who were not in support of what has come to be known as the third force to go and create their own coalition.

He said such movement will result in a grand coalition of forces in 2019 election.

The former presidential aide said the coalition was necessary for a better, equitable, restructured, and prosperous Nigeria.

Meanwhile, a report by Daily Independent newspapers indicates that there are ongoing plans for the Coalition for Nigeria Movement (CNM) led by former president Olusegun Obasanjo and the Nigeria Intervention Movement (NIM) led by Chief Olisa Agbakoba (SAN) to merge and join forces ahead of the 2019 general election.

According to the report, leaders of both movement believe that it is time to unite forces and form a coalition, a political third force that will rescue the country.

While the Obasanjo-led CNM is peopled by mostly politicians and elder statesmen, the NIM on its part is filled with technocrats, rights activists, and other Nigerians who share the same ideology on how to move the country forward.

The report quoted a source as saying though the CNM and NIM are two different entities now, the plan is for both to come together very soon.
