Labelling government's critics as corrupt people is the new face of tyranny - Senator Sani

Senator Shehu Sani has reacted to the new trend of calling government's critics corrupt and singing the praises of government's supporters.

Sani, representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, took to his twitter page to rebuke the act of intimidating government's critic by accusing them of being corrupt.

Sani wrote: "The labeling of critics of the government as corrupt or supporters of corruption & the crowning of supporters of the Govt as Saints on the Rock is the new attempt to defame and stigmatize people for exercising their rights to express their opinion. This is the new face of tyranny."

Senator Sani's statement is coming less than a week after the governor of Kogi state, Yahya Bello said religious leaders complaining about President Muhammadu Buhari's administration are looters affected by the anti-corruption fight of the government.

Bello said this while reacting to statement reportedly made by Catholic Bishops while visiting President Buhari at the presidential villa on Thursday, February 8.

The religious leaders reportedly lamented the state of economy in Nigeria to the president.

Bello, while reacting to the statement said only looters are unhappy with the Buhari administration.
