PDP asks Senator Mark to settle rift between Fayose, Adeyeye, others

- The PDP has set up a reconciliation committee headed by Senator David Mark

- The committee is to settle the rifts among its members in Ekiti state

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has invited former senate president David Mark to wage into the rift between the Ekiti state chapter of the party.

The party set up a reconciliation committee to be led by Mark and assisted by the deputy vice chairman of the party in the south-west, Dr. Eddy Olafeso.

The Punch reports that the national publicity secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan, announced the development in an interview with our correspondent in Abuja on Monday.

He said: “Yes, it is true we have set up a committee headed by Senator David Mark on Ekiti state. The committee is credible and its members were carefully chosen with a mandate to settle the rift.

“The state is important to us and we don’t want to play with it because after winning there, we will then move to Osun state to liberate them.”

The crisis in Ekiti state chapter of the party reportedly deepened after Governor Ayodele Fayose allegedly picked his deputy, Prof. Kolapo Olusola, as his successor and the candidate of the party in the coming governorship election.

Fayose's decision did not go down well with Adeyeye and some other leaders of the party.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that the former secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti state, Tope Aluko on Wednesday, February 14, apologised to Governor Fayose.

Vanguard reports that Aluko who made this known in a press statement titled: ''Why I returned to my political home,'' vowing to remain committed and loyal to the governor and all that he represents.
