Manchester United on Wednesday night, January 31 suffered an embarrassing defeat at the Wembley Stadium when they were defeated by Tottenham 2-0.

Tottenham started the match with flurry of attacks as they scored in the first minute through Christian Eriksen who sent David De Gea the wrong side.

Chilean striker Alexis Sanchez tried to restore parity in the 10th minute, but his shot was well saved by Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

Spurs got their second goal in the 26th minute thanks to an own goal scored by defender Phil Jones.

Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku also had glorious chance to reduce the scoreline in the second half, but Lloris denied the Belgian from scoring as Spurs won the match 2-0.

Tottenham currently occupy fifth position on the Premier League standings with 48 points from 25 games, while Manchester United occupy second with 53 points also from 25 games.
