Trouble for Mourinho as Manchester United board angry at him because of this player

Manchester United board have expressed their regret at Jose Mourinho concerning the purchase of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in January, El Pais reports.

The Chile international is yet to live up to the billing since leaving London to Manchester, and El Pais claim Sanchesz huge wages has affected the dressing room.

The Spanish outfit also claim Paul Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, has asked the Red Devils that his client also want a pay rise at Old Trafford.

United chiefs are also concerned about the club’s finances, citing Sanchez acquisition was unnecessarily expensive since the Chilean would have been available on a free transfer in the summer.

However, El Pais said Mourinho signed Sanchez because he was looking to get one over rival Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, which points towards a difference in priorities between the manager and board level.

Sanchez was brought from Arsenal in a swap deal with Henrikh Mkhitaryan who went the other way but the former Barcelona player earns a whopping £500,000 in wages.

Despite the huge excitement generating on Sanchez arrival at Old Trafford, he has found the back of the net just once against Huddersfield Town after a close rebound from an initial penalty miss.

After the 2-1 victory over bitter rivals Chelsea at Old Trafford, Mourinho showered praises on Sanchez for his relentless contribution in the team.

United played a disappointing goaless draw at Sevilla in the first leg rounfd of 16 Champions League match, but will be hoping to score goals in the return leg in Manchester.

The Red Devils will be away to 17th placed Crystal Palace in the Premier League before facing familiar foes, Liverpool, at the Theatre of Dreams.
