- The Kaduna state chapter of the APC has reacted to the suspension of Governor Nasir El-Rufai by a factional chairman
- The move was described as being laughable, as the acting secretary said the purported factional chairman had no power to suspend the governor
- The acting secretary further pointed out that most of the members of the so-called faction, including the chairman, had already been expelled from the party
The purported suspension of Governor Nasir el-Rufai by the Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi-led faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna state, has been dismissed as laughable and illegitimate, Vanguard reports.
Yahaya Baba Pate, Acting Secretary, APC Kaduna state, made the comments while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting on Monday, February 19.

NAIJ.com gathers that Baba Pate described the purported chairman of the faction, Danladi Wada, as an impostor who did not have the power to suspend any party member.
He stated: “The authentic chairman of the party is Alhaji Shuaibu Idris. He is the chairman recognised by the national leadership of the party.
“Last week, he received an invitation letter from the national secretariat, signed by National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, inviting him for National Executive Committee meeting next week.
“The Senator Hunkuyi-led group is illegitimate. As far as we are concerned, most of them have been expelled, including the so-called factional chairman, Danladi Wada.
“As for Senator Hunkuyi, he is on six months’ suspension, because we cannot expel him. Only the national leadership can expel him, because he is a political office holder.”

Recall that NAIJ.com previously reported that the faction of the All Progressives Congress in Kaduna state which issued a query to Governor Nasir El-Rufai on Thursday, February 15, suspended the governor for six months.
This was due to the fear expressed by party stakeholders that the presidential reconciliation committee led by the national leader of the party, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, may fail in Kaduna state if El-Rufai refuses to admit his faults.
The chairman of the faction who claimed to be the true leader of the party recognised by its national secretariat, Danladi Wada, said that El-Rufai was suspended because of his failure to respond to the query earlier issued to him.
In his address to newsmen at the 11B Sambo road parallel office of the party on Sunday, February 18, Wada said the failure of the governor to respond to the query forced the state working committee to suspend him.
