2019 election: Governor Ortom to brief APC members about future plans at SEC meeting

- Governor Samuel Ortom is expected to attend APC SEC meeting

- The governor would use the opportunity to reveal his plans for 2019

- There has been rumour that the Benue governor might leave the APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) will be holding its State Executive Council (SEC) meeting on Friday, March 9.

The governor of Benue state, Samuel Ortom is expected to be at the meeting which will be holding at the party’s secretariat on Iyorchia Ayu road, Makurdi. The governor is expected to attend with his deputy, Benson Abounu.

The governor will brief members of the party of his plans ahead of the 2019 election activities.

Comrade Abba Yaro who is the state chairman of the party said the SEC meeting will give Governor Ortom the opportunity to tell if he was still in the party and whether he would seek re-election in 2019.

There has been rumour that the governor may dump the party following insecurity in the state over clashes between herdsmen and farmers.

Meanwhile, Benue state governor Ortom after a meeting with security council in the state told the displaced indigenes of Mbatoho Island at the government house, on Tuesday that security agents will swing into action

Channel Television reports that Ortom also insisted that the open grazing prohibition law will not be repelled.

He said: ''We just came out of a security meeting today. The Mbatoho community attack and displacement by these mercenary herdsmen featured extensively and we have taken steps.

''I believe that within the week the security agencies should swing into action and ensure. We chase away all the killer herdsmen and mercenary herdsmen that invaded your land.''
