Despite David Mark's intervention, Fayose reaffirms his support for his deputy

The governor however, said he will ensure a leveled playing ground for all aspirants of the position in the party

The governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose reaffirmed his stand with his support for his deputy, Kolapo Olusola, to replace him as governor of the state.

Fayose speaking after a reconciliation meeting with the David Mark-led committee on the Ekiti crisis said he insists on his preference and support for Olusola, Premium Times reports.The

The governor said nothing would make him change his mind on his support for his deputy to run for governorship in Ekiti state.

He said: “In the spirit of understanding we had with (the) Senator David Mark-led reconciliation committee, knowing that we have more than one aspirant, I will ensure a level-playing ground.

“I have pitched my tent with Prof. Olusola and I stand with him, today and tomorrow. We are going to give everybody the right of primary," Fayose said.

Fayose also appealed to all women in the state to collect the Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) to support his continuity agenda for the state.

While urging the electoral body, the police and security agencies to remain transparent during the election in July 2018, Fayose said Ekiti people will resist any plan to rig election in the state.

“The 2019 is very crucial and the 2018 elections in Ekiti and Osun will be acid tests. I am appealing to INEC, police and other security agencies to be transparent.

“I want to use this opportunity to tell the international community that I am a one-man army opposition to APC in Nigeria and what they want to do is to rig election here in Ekiti but we shall resist them," he said.

The Mark's committee had in their meeting urged the governor to create a level playing ground for all aspirants in the party at the primaries.

The committee had agreed for a free and fair primary to elect a gubernatorial candidate for the July 2018 election.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that the Peoples Democratic Party had assigned a former Senate President, David Mark, delve into the crisis rocking Ekiti state.

Mark through a reconciliation committee set up by the party were saddled with the responsibility of settling the dispute between PDP members in the state.

The PDP while setting up the committee said Ekiti is important to it and all must be done to ensure peace and harmony among party faithfuls.
