FG intensifies efforts to rescue Dapchi schoolgirls, deploys DIG to Yobe state

- The DIG in charge of operations, Habila Joshak, charges police officers to redouble efforts in the search of the missing Dapchi schoolgirls

- He assures the people of Yobe state that all security agencies are working hard towards the rescue of the abducted girls

- Senate summons Buratai, Idris over Dapchi, Chibok schoolgirls abduction

The deputy inspector general of police in charge of operations, Habila Joshak, has been deployed to Yobe state as part of efforts to rescue the abducted Dapchi schoolgirls.

Channels TV reports that Habila Joshak, was received by the Yobe state commissioner of police Sunmonu Abdulmaliki, among other officers of the command following his arrival in the state on Thursday, March 8.

The DIG also held discussions with police officers and charged them to redouble their efforts in the search of the missing girls to reunite them with their families.

“I share the pains of this unfortunate incident with the people of Yobe and wish to assure them that we will work together with relevant stakeholders towards the recovery of the abducted school girls,” he said when sympathizing with the people of Yobe over the abduction of the schoolgirls.

He assured the people that all security agencies are working hard towards the rescue of the missing girls and pleaded with them to provide the police with useful information that could aid the rescue operation.

“In course of my stay here, I will meet with parents, school teachers, headmasters, principals and all the relevant authorities to ensure that their confidence in sending their children to school is restored.

“This is the only way we can bring back the attention of children to school,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chief of army staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, and inspector general of police, Ibrahim Idris, have been summoned by the Senate over the abduction of the Dapchi and Chibok schoolgirls, Daily Trust reports.

The security chiefs were summoned on Thursday, March 8, following the motion by Senator Biodun Olujimi (PDP-Ekiti) on the International Women’s Day. Olujimi expressed dismay over the increased spate of abductions of girl children in the country.

NAIJ.com gathers that the Senate wants a briefing from both men, as regarding the actual situation pertaining to the abductions. The lawmakers also want to be briefed on clear operational strategies to rescue the remaining Chibok and Dapchi schoolgirls within two weeks.
