- He was flown to Singapore where he will be taking part in the Microsoft Global Education Exchange Summit
- Microsoft has also promised to send some computers to the school to facilitate the study of ICT
Richard Akoto Appiah, the ICT teacher who went viral on social media for drawing the Microsoft Word interface on a blackboard just to get his students to understand has been flown to Singapore to partake in an exchange program.
The 34-year-old teacher, known by the Facebook name, Owura Kwadwo Hottish, took to Facebook to update his status about his arrival in the Asian country under the auspices of ICT giant, Microsoft.
After sharing some photos on Facebook, he captioned his post, “Just arrived in Singapore for the Microsoft Global Education Exchange Summit. Looking forward to learn something new. #thanksMicrosoft.”

The Microsoft Education Exchange program has been in existence for more than a decades and has the sole aim of celebrating amazing educators and providing them with the opportunity to collaborate with others from around the world.
The training program which is scheduled to last from March 13 through to March 15 is hosted by Microsoft and they took to their Twitter account to announce Richard Akoto Appiah’s participation.

Richard Akoto Appiah, an ICT teacher of Betenase M/A Junior High School in the town of Sekyedomase, took the internet by storm when some pictures of him teaching ICT without a computer surfaced online.
His story was covered by many national and international news agencies which led to many people pledging to assist the young man with computer equipment.
Not too long ago, he received the first donation of a laptop from Leeds University. NIIT has also ‘blessed’ the school with some brand new desktop computers to enhance the teaching and learning of ICT in the school.
Many congratulated the teacher after he shared pictures of himself in Singapore. Below are some reactions to his post.
