Jesus scores as Manchester City dispatch Basel to qualify for Champions League last 8

- Manchester City have qualified for the last 8 of the 2018 Champions League

- They were beaten 2-1 on Wednesday night, March 7, by visiting FC Basel

- But Manchester City qualified for the quarter final on 5-2 aggregate

Current Premier League leaders Manchester City on Wednesday night, March 7, qualified for the quarter final of the 2018 UEFA Champions League.

Pep Guardiola's men suffered a 1-2 defeat in front of their fans in their second leg tie against Basel, but qualified for the last 8 on 5-2 aggregate.

Brazilian star Gabriel Jesus returned to action for Manchester City against Basel, and he scored the first goal in the 8th minute after being assisted by Bernardo Silva.

The visitors restored parity in the 17th minute through Mohamed Elyounoussi after receiving an excellent pass from Blas Riveros.

Ivorian star Yaya Toure had a chance to score for Manchester City in the 27th minute, but his shot was well saved by Basel goalie Tomas Vaclik.

Basel scored their second goal in the 71st minute through Micheal Lang who was assisted by Mohamed Elyounoussi and won the match 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

But they crashed out on 5-2 aggregate after losing the first leg 0-4 to Manchester City in Switzerland.
