The Department of State Services (DSS) has finally arrested Jonah Abbey, also known as Jonah Idi, described as a ‘notorious gunrunner’ on the wanted list of the agency for about 10 years over alleged arms and ammunition trade.
He was arrested alongside his driver, Agyo Saviour, aka, Dan-Wase, according to reports.

According to a statement in Abuja on Sunday, March 18, and signed by Tony Opuiyo, the DSS alleged that Abbey serviced criminal groups in Bayelsa, Ebonyi, Rivers, Imo, Anambra, Plateau, Nasarawa, and Benue/Taraba axis, including the wanted notorious criminal syndicate led by Terwase Akwaza, aka Ghana.
The said intelligence indicated that Abbey moved arms and ammunition from Konduga in Borno state to Taraba through Saviour, who happens to be his driver.
“It may be noted that subject has entrenched his criminal activities in different parts of the country and as earlier mentioned, has clients especially in Plateau, Ebonyi, Cross River, Enugu and Bayelsa states, among others.

“Indications are that he sources arms from the Republic of Cameroon and parts of the North-East of Nigeria,” the statement added stressing that Abbey had been on the wanted list of the service for the last 10 years over arms and ammunition trade.
NAIJ.com earlier reported that the Department of State Services, on Tuesday, February 26, released names of notorious and wanted criminals arrested in different parts of the country in joint operations with related security agencies to get rid of armed terrorists.
Those who came top on the list of criminals taken in by the DSS are Barnabas Torva Amadi also known as Ataminin, who reportedly participated in the kidnap and murder of Hosea Ibi, a member of the Taraba state House of Assembly.
