Nigerian priest says parents who leave wealth for their kids are not wise

Parenting can be a difficult job, especially when there is no proven manual on how to raise responsible children.

A Catholic priest identified as Rev. George Ehusan in his sermon has spoken on what he believed to be appropriate ways to raise responsible and hardworking children.

According to Rev George, parents who provide properties for their children are not helping them because they are on the path of grooming their kids to be lazy.

He opined that majority of elderly wealthy individuals with money in Nigeria today, didn't get the money from their parents but rather it was from their personal hard work that they were able to flourish.

He advised parents to provide basic needs for their kids and allow them to explore life and generate their own resources by themselves other than spoiling them with their already made resources that will cripple them and render them lazy.

In his sermon he said that every child has a special intelligence and uniqueness which can only be discovered if given room and enabling environment to progress and access their thoughts.

He said:

"People who make provisions for houses for their children, is the most foolish thing, reason every child came into this world with an ability and when you provide every thing for your child you stunt the growth of this child, you deny the child that unique gift the child was to bring to the world."
