Tears flow in Lagos as 2 people die in building collapse (photos)

- A building has collapsed in Agege area of lagos state

- The Lagos State Emergency Agency has also confirmed that two people died from the collapse

- LASEMA said the building had suffered a partial collapse at the backside before its collapse

Two people have been confirmed dead in a building collapse in Agege local government area pf Lagos state.

The victims died when a building located at number 9 Abeje Street Markaz, of the area collapsed.

The Nation reports that the building had been marked for distressed by the Lagos State government before it caved in.

Also, the general manager of the Lagos State Emergency Agency (LASEMA), Adesina Tiamiyu in a statement said the building suffered a partial collapse at the backside.

Tiamiyu said: “Investigation carried out by the LASEMA Response Team at the scene of incident revealed that a distress storey building suffered partial collapse at the backside” he said.

“Two persons(female adult Toyin Ogundimu 35 years and a young girl Sherifat Olalere 11 years) lost their lives to the incident and one male adult (Mustapher Salaudeen) was rescued and treated at the incident by the ambulance crew," Tiamiyu added.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com earlier reported that three people had died when a three storey-building under construction collapsed in Ilasa area of Lagos state.

Nineteen people were also injured in the incident that occurred at about 2 pm in the afternoon.

The general manager of LASMA said the three dead victims were recovered from the collapse debris and taken to Lagos Mainland Mortuary Yaba while those injured were taken to Isolo General Hospital.
