The police in Enugu state have arrested one Benjamin Onwuka, the leader of the Biafra Zionist Movement who is reportedly wanted for murder.
The Cable reports that Onwuka was arrested on Wednesday, May 30, alongside 21 other members of the group during a march along Independence Layout, Enugu.
The spokesperson of the police command, Ebere Amaraizu, reportedly confirmed the arrest saying they were moving to the government house to hoist the Biafra flag.

He said: “Onwuka has been standing trial in the court of competent court of jurisdiction over his alleged role of murder, armed robbery and unlawful possession of firearms before he resurfaced today but fell into the hands of the eagle eyed security operatives of the command.
“He was nabbed within the Enugu metropolis alongside his members based on the intelligence information. Suspects are helping the operatives in their investigations.”
The police spokesman added that the sit-at-home order from the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) was not enforced in the state.
“There were movement of vehicles, commuters and traders within and outside the metropolis contrary to the early threat and order of sit-at-home," he said.
NAIJ.com had reported that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has reportedly taken over Enugu state Government House to prevent members of Biafra Zionists Federation (BZF) from taking over.

The BZF, led by Benjamin Onwuka, allegedly attempted to declare an independent Biafra and forcefully take over government House.
The pro-Biafra group numbering over fifty had converged at the House as early as 7.30am on Wednesday, May 30, but were stopped at the gate by police men, Guardian reports.
