Christians and Muslims in the country will come together and take a stand against the use of youths to carry out violence during the forthcoming 2019 general elections.
The development was made public by the Southern Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), headed by Oluchukwu Nnabugwu, Vanguard reports.

NAIJ.com gathers that Nnabugwu disclosed that thoughts, ideas and plans to engage youths as agents of peace in the lead-up to the next elections, would be generated during the association’s Peace and Security Summit scheduled for Friday, June 29.
He stated: “The Southern Youth Wing of Christian Association of Nigeria has concluded plans to organize its maiden edition of Peace and Security Summit, which will take place next week Friday.
“The summit is aimed at tackling the current security challenges ravaging the country as well as fostering national unity.
“At the conference, we will generate and galvanize practicable thoughts, ideas and plans and at the end of it, we will have a work plan aimed at fostering increased engagement of youths as peace agents more importantly, towards the 2019 general elections.”
He added: “It is pertinent to state that His Eminence, Alhaji Saad Albubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto and some notable Muslim scholars will make key contributions in the conference alongside His Eminence, Dr Cardinal John Onaiyekan; the national president of Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. Samuel AyoKunle and other Christian faithful.
“We are also expecting the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo.”

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that the Christian Association of Nigeria denied instigating Christians to vote against Muslims in the 2019 general elections.
CAN’s national secretary, Musa Asake, said the association could not have asked Christians to vote only Christians because “it was not the right way to go”.
