June 12: Abiola's daughter denies attack on ex-president Obasanjo

- Hafsat Abiola-Costello says reports of her attacking certain individuals over her father's new award were not accurate

- She said an article circulating in her name, which was also misspelled, did not come from her

- She said she also never attacked anyone opposed to the Buhari administration because she believes everyone is entitled to his or her own political opinion

The daughter of late Moshood Abiola, acclaimed winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election, has denied attacking former president Olusegun Obasanjo and other people after receiving an award honouring her father.

Premium Times reports that Hafsat Abiola-Costello distanced herself from reports in circulation that she attacked some individuals who could have honoured her father like President Muhammadu Buhari did on Tuesday, June 12, but didn’t.

In a statement on Monday, June 18 Abiola-Costello, said she never wrote any article to attack former president Obasanjo and others who were in such positions at one time or the other.

Abiola-Costello thanked President Buhari for the award again but said she did not attack anyone opposed to the Buhari administration.

“I respect the right that each individual has to form his/her political opinion too much to do that,” she wrote.

“My prayer is that we do that which is best for our country in the coming elections.

“May we have the wisdom to discern the sincere from the insincere; the committed from the unreliable; the doer from those who may say what we want to hear but lack the courage to act in our collective interests.”
