- Belgium international Kevin De Bruyne feels Yaya Toure was wrong to label Pep Guardiola a racist
- The midfielder only managed 10 English topflight appearances in the 2017-18 league season
- He has been released by the club as his contract with the club elapses at the end of this month
Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne has branded Yaya Toure’s claims against Pep Guardiola as untrue.
The Ivorian was reported to have blamed the Spaniard for his woes at the club, adding that the former Barcelona manager has issues with Africans as reported by Manchester Evening News.
Toure made just 10 Premier League appearances for the Citizens in the recently concluded season, compared to the 2016-17 season where he played 25 matches and scored five goals in the process.
However, the 35-year-old has been released by the club as his contract with the club expires at the end of this month.

Meanwhile, neither the club nor the manager has said anything about the matter, but the Belgian attacker was baffled by the statement uttered by Toure, saying his exclusion from the team last season was probably more down to fitness and effort.
“I never saw something. It would be weird if the trainer was racist – with all the black guys we have in our team,” De Bruyne told BBC World Football.
“So I don’t know what Yaya said or if it’s wrongly written or exaggerated. When you don’t play there’s always something you try to find. It's very difficult.
“We had the best season ever, so in the end the coach took the right decision to play with the team who played a lot. At the end of the day, Yaya was the only one who signed a contract last year. [Guardiola] let a lot of players go, Yaya was the only one because he did well so I don't know.
"This year the trainer probably thought he [Yaya] wasn’t doing enough, maybe wasn’t fit enough. I’ve never seen something racist at the club, ever.”

Manchester City didn’t just win the Premier League last season, they also set a new record in a league season after becoming the first club to score amass 100 points in a single season.
They also won the EFL Cup but missed out on the FA Cup and the Champions League title in what many regarded as their best season.
Previously, NAIJ.com reported that Toure has accused Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola of being jealous of him and said he was determined to break the myth that has been in existence.
In 2010, the former African footballer of the year joined Manchester City from Spanish club Barcelona in which he claimed Guardiola forced him out at the Nou Camp.
And after winning the Premier League title last season with Manchester City, Pep Guardiola was the first to announce that Yaya Toure will not be part of his plans for next season.
