Priest leaves parents, congregation stunned after slapping a baby who wouldn’t stop crying during baptism (photos)

- A French priest slapped a baby who wouldn’t stop crying during its baptism ceremony

- The priest had previously tried to calm the child down, but it wouldn’t relent and kept screaming loudly

- After watching on in shock as the baby was slapped, the outraged relatives stepped in and grabbed the child away from the angry clergyman

A baby’s relatives were forced to wrestle the child away from a French priest who slapped it during baptism.

According to UK Daily Mail, the child would not stop crying during the ceremony; causing the clergyman to lose his temper, lift his left hand and hit the baby in the face.

NAIJ.com gathers that at the start of the ceremony, the woman, believed to be the child’s mother, was carrying the child while the priest began proceedings.

However, not quite enjoying the ceremony, the baby suddenly began crying out loudly.

The priest got irritated and was speaking loudly, in a bid to raise his voice over the screams.

The child would not relent however, and the cleric began saying, "Calm down, calm down, you must calm down."

At a point however, the priest, visibly annoyed, had had enough, and held the baby's face in his hands, looked it in the eyes and slaps it hard on the cheek with his left hand.

The outraged relatives then stepped in and snatched the baby away from the priest, after watching on in shock.

The priest was heard saying afterwards: “There, you have to calm yourself, you have to calm yourself, there, there.”

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that a Catholic priest, Reverend Father Lucien Ambunga, who was inflicted with the deadly Ebola virus, survived it.
