More trouble for APC as another governor reveals future with ruling party

- Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara state is considering his political future with the APC

- He disclosed that top political leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are gradually being shown out of the party

- The governor however stated that the presence of some politicians in Ilorin on Wednesday was not for any political realignment as being insinuated in certain quarters

Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara state has stated that his principal, Senate President Bukola Saraki and other top political leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are gradually being shown out of the party.

The governor’s comment was contained in a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Dr Muideen Akorede, in Ilorin, the state capital, on Wednesday, July 18, Vanguard reports.

NAIJ.com however gathers that the governor disclosed that he is yet to take a decision on his political future with the APC.

The statement read: “While I have not been briefed on any planned defection, I am aware that my principal and other political leaders in the state are gradually being shown the way out of the APC.”

It added: “The presence of some politicians in Ilorin today (Wednesday) was not for any political realignment as being insinuated in certain quarters.

“The presence today in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, of the Senate president, His Excellency, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, PDP Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, Governor Samuel Ortom , Governor Aminu Tambuwal and Governor Nyesom Wike, Ex Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa, Senator Lawal Shuaibu, Senator Barnabas Gemade and other prominent political figures was for the burial rites of the late mother of respected politician, Alh Kawu Baraje and was not for the purpose of a political realignment.”

Recall that NAIJ.com previously reported that Governor Samuel Ortom and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state met with Senate President Bukola Saraki in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital on Wednesday, July 18.

Although the purpose of their meeting was not disclosed, there is growing speculation that Ortom may defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)) after he announced his exit from the APC.
