- President Muhammadu Buhari's support group has reacted to the merger between PDP, R-APC and 33 other parties

- The group referred to members of the new party, CUPP, as an association of looters

- The group also vowed to defeat the new party in the 2019 elections

A support group for President Muhammadu Buhari, under the aegis of I Stand with Buhari, has reacted to the merger between members of the Reformed All Progressives Congress (R-APC) with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Recall that NAIJ.com previously reported that PDP has allegedly announced a new name called Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) after it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with 33 other political parties.

The Buhari support group referred to the new party as "Looters Association of Nigeria" and described the president as 'a man of honour, character and intergrity'.

The group, on its official Facebook page, said: "We are ready for all of you, let’s meet at polling unit."

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com earlier reported that the deputy president of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, on Monday, July 9, expressed optimism over the political future of Nigeria following the coming together of various opposition parties.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had, in the evening of Monday, July 9, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to fuse into one political movement with other parties.

Ekweremadu said the fusion of the parties would rescue Nigeria from the All Progressives Congress in 2019.
