Tinubu said this in an interview with State House correspondents after he led the party’s stakeholders from the southwest to a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Thursday, August 30.

The stakeholders used the opportunity of the occasion to present the party’s candidate in the forthcoming polls, Alhaji Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola, to the president.

Tinubu said that the solid foundation laid by the state governor, Rauf Aregbesola, would give the party a smooth win. He also said Oyetola’s good records would aid his victory.

Tinubu stated: “We expect victory. We have a progressive government there where the incumbent and the outgoing governor has worked and laid a good foundation. Therefore, we have successes to build upon.

“We equally are bringing in one of the most competent and qualified technocrats in the person of Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola. He is eminently qualified.”

As to whether the Osun election will be a tough battle like the recent Ekiti governorship polls, he said: “You don’t predict the activity of elections. It can always be unique from one state to the other.

“But we believe that with our leadership in Osun from the state chairman down to the lowest level and the way they conducted the direct primary and the way people had turned out, are signals to the opposing parties that they have no way of beating us.”

On his part, Oyetola expressed his gratitude to the party delegates, adding that he will win the election. He stated: “It (the visit) shows that he (the President) is the father of all. He is committed to the APC winning the Osun election come September 22 this year.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com reported that the national chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiohmole, had described the forthcoming Osun state governorship election as a walkover for the party, saying it was confident of emerging victorious.

Oshiohmole told State House correspondents after a closed door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa, Abuja that APC had no political challenges in Osun as the state governor, Rauf Aregbesola, was at home with the people.
