- The tie was the Citizens' third game of the season after winning their first two games

- Willy Boly scored for Wolverhampton, while Aymeric Laporte netted for Manchester City

Reigning Premier League champions Manchester City were on Saturday, August 25, forced to a 1-1 draw by hosts Wolverhampton Wanderers in their third game of the new season in England.

Argentina international Sergio Aguero missed many scoring opportunities in this tie which the Citizens could have won easily.

After getting only one point in their first two games of the season, Wolverhampton Wanderers started this match impressively with the aims of avoiding defeat in front of their fans.

But the first half ended goalless as the hosts and the visitors failed to find the back of the net.

Wolverhampton scored their goal in the 57th minute through Willy Boly who was assisted by Joao Moutinho in which Manchester City goalie Ederson had no option.

But Manchester City restored parity in the 69th minute through Aymeric Laporte who was given a nice final pass by IIkay Gundogan.

Manchester City had many chances that would have helped them to win this match and Wolverhampton fans will have goalkeeper Rul Patricio to thank who denied Pep Guardiola's men the victory as the match ended 1-1.

City are still on top of the Premier League standings with seven points after three games played this term.
