As the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)'s primary election draws near, there are indications that it would not be easy for those eyeing the governorship seats across the 36 states in the country.
According to The Punch, not less than 123 persons were reported to have purchased the PDP's nomination and expression of interest forms ahead of the forthcoming primaries.
The newpaper reports that though the total figure of the amount generated by the party from the sale of governorship forms was not made available, the party has earned not less than N728m as each aspirant paid N6 million to register their interest.

It has also earned N156 million from the sale of forms to twelve presidential aspirants. Each candidate paid not less than N12 million for the forms.
NAIJ.com notes that governorship elections are not due to hold in other six different states. The states include Anambra, Bayelsa, Ondo, Kogi, Ekiti and Osun.
The party's presidential primary is scheduled to hold on October 5 and 6 in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, while the screening of the aspirants is said to hold between September 20 and 24.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that stakeholders and governors on the platform of the PDP were reportedly divided over the party’s presidential ticket for the 2019 election.
It also gathered that the lack of consensus candidate for the poll might have been compounded over the recent defection of some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP. The party's stakeholders, according to reports, were divided between handing over the ticket to defectors or members who had stayed in the party since 2015 when the PDP became an opposition party.
