2019: Atiku digs in, woos PDP delegates in S/West state

- Atiku Abubakar is holding meetings with PDP delegates in Osun state, in a bid to actualize his 2019 ambition

- To that end, members of his campaign organization have met with leaders of the party in the state

- According to Atiku’s team, the former VP has what it takes to get Nigeria out of its present problems

In a bid to gain the support of Osun Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) delegates for his 2019 presidential ambition, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria’s former vice president, has started holding meetings with the leadership of the party in the state.

The development was made public by the coordinator of the Atiku Campaign Organisation in Osun state, Dr Jamiu Yusuf, on the sidelines of the meeting with some of the delegates, Punch reports.

NAIJ.com gathers that Yusuf disclosed that he and other leaders of the organisation had earlier had a meeting with leaders of the party in the south-west state, including the chairman, Soji Adagunodo.

He said: “The Atiku Campaign Organisation has been working in Osun state and we held a meeting with the PDP chairman in the state and other leaders of the party today.

“The situation in the country now requires an experienced and a competent person and not a neophyte who will get to power and spend years learning what governance is all about.

“Alhaji Atiju Abubakar has what it takes to get Nigeria out of its present problems and that is why he is offering to lead Nigeria. He is competent and willing to serve.”

Yusuf said the All Progressives Congress (APC) had plunged Osun state into poverty, and that the PDP had come to rescue the state from this condition.

He added: “The APC is synonymous with nepotism and that is the reason why they want to force Buhari on Nigerians in 2019 without considering other people who want the presidential ticket of their party.”
