2019: I am ready for re-election, you will all fall asleep if you think of shooting - S/South governor sends tough message to security agents

- Rivers governor, Nyesom Wike, has announced that he is ready to prosecute his re-election bid for 2019

- He told security agents that he is ready for them; and that they would fall asleep if they think of shooting

- Wike also announced that 7,000 qualified persons would be employed into the state civil service

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has said he is ready to prosecute his 2019 re-election bid.

Wike made the announcement in Port Harcourt on Saturday, September 1, before inaugurating the secretariat of the ‘One Million Youths for New Rivers State,’ Punch reports.

NAIJ.com gathers that the governor said his decision to seek re-election was based on the support of the youths across the state’s 23 local government areas.

He also said the other reason he had to fight to protect the state was the endorsement he received from women, elders, ethnic nationalities and even non-indigenes.

He stated: “I want to tell you that I am prepared for that election (2019). Since the youths are the ones saying that I should come out to contest, I am ready to come out.

“Let the security agencies know that we are prepared. When they are thinking of shooting, they will fall asleep until the elections are over and we are declared winners.”

He also vowed that business partners struggling to snatch the state for their own benefits would be defeated in 2019.

He added: “People intentionally sold key assets of Rivers state to themselves and now they want to take more through business partnership. They sold to themselves the gas turbines, sold to themselves Olympia Hotel and Abonnema Wharf.

“If we allow them, they will sell the whole GRA to themselves. They should know that we are prepared."

Wike also announced that 7,000 qualified persons would be employed into the state civil service; with youths constituting 70 percent of that figure.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that Governor Nyesom Wike said he was ready to die in 2019 to ensure victory for the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) in the forthcoming general elections.

Wike said former president Goodluck Jonathan lost the election in 2015 because he was surrounded by people who were not sincere.
